De arreglos de cocido y otros guisos
March 14 - May 4, 2002

The work that I am showing in the Gallery Oliva Arauna, various plates of lentils, continues with the formal investigation into something that I have been working on for a long time and is part of the series “De arreglos de cocido y otros guisos”. This idea of the fragment, of the small scale, of what is not seen and passes unnoticed has started to gain importance in my work. The strangeness, the rarefying of something that is seen over and over again interested me so much that it still continues to surprise me.

I use food, the primary object of our basic human needs, to generate another reality that transcends the object itself and that suggests, beyond itself, feelings, through very primary forms, almost cosmic, universal, in which chaos and chance play a fundamental role in creating order.

The lentils are not just the instrument but the object through which I try to create a different way of seeing the world.
